Health of the Salish Sea - submitted by Paul K.

This comprehensive report on the health of the Salish Sea and how it affects Salmon and Steelhead is enlightening. No surprise that we need to restore habitat and control pinneped predation, it is crucial we do not lose steam on hatchery production.

Factors we cannot control are population density/pollution, de-forestation, and climate change. Did you know that even 1 degree of water changes throws off the ecosystem web of nutrients for the lower level zooplankton and micro-invertebrates?

WDFW needs to hear your voice and we must ensure that sport fishermen have a say to provide fisheries for our kids and grandchildren. A proposed change is in talks and we MUST NOT allow the voices to be un-heard. WDFW could fall prey into the hands of the DNR (Dept. of Natural Resources) and if this happens could mean the final nail in the coffin for recreational angling as we know it.
